What makes THE STUDIO Ninja different from other ninja gyms?
Many things set us apart, but here are four of the biggest reasons families choose THE STUDIO:
- We’re tried and true—not shiny and new. We’ve been teaching Ninja for over 15 years, long before American Ninja Warrior made obstacle course training popular. We’re not only the original Ninja gym in Roseville, but one of the original Ninja programs in the entire state of California. Our program wasn’t built to follow a trend—it was built to develop stronger, healthier, more confident kids and adults through the sport of Ninja.
- We develop champions—but more importantly, confident kids. We’re proud to have developed athletes who have competed at the national and world levels, as well as both male and female competitors on American Ninja Warrior. But what we’re most proud of isn’t who made television—it’s the thousands of students who have become more athletic, more confident, more resilient, and more willing to take on life’s obstacles. Every child may not become the next American Ninja Warrior—but every child can become the best version of themselves.
- Our obstacles are designed for learning—not just looking cool. Many Ninja gyms use fixed tower rigs or gymnastics-style setups that don’t change very often. Our state-of-the-art ninja obstacle system is intentionally designed to be extremely versatile, allowing our coaches to continually redesign courses that challenge balance, grip strength, agility, coordination, creativity, problem-solving, and confidence. Because our courses are always evolving, students stay engaged, challenged, and excited every week. No two classes are exactly the same.
- Our coaches are real Ninja coaches. Our coaches are professionally trained through THE STUDIO’s Ninja program—not simply assigned to teach Ninja because they have another athletic background. Every coach is:
- Professionally trained in Ninja obstacle instruction
- Background checked
- CPR certified
- SafeSport trained
- Passionate about working with children
Many also have backgrounds in martial arts, gymnastics, other sports, but first and foremost, they are dedicated Ninja coaches who know how to safely teach progressions while making every class fun and engaging.

Frequently Asked Questions About THE STUDIO's Ninja Warrior Gym
Have athletes from THE STUDIO competed on American Ninja Warrior?
Yes! We’re proud to have had both male and female athletes from THE STUDIO compete on American Ninja Warrior. To date, athletes from our Roseville gym have appeared on eight seasons of the show—and counting!
While we’re incredibly proud of those accomplishments, our greatest success is helping every student become stronger, healthier, and more confident, regardless of whether their goal is television or simply having fun.
What ages do you offer Ninja classes for?
We offer Ninja classes for all ages! Our curriculum is age-appropriate and designed to challenge every student at their current ability level. These are our class levels:
Mini Ninjas, ages 3 to 5
Kid Ninjas, ages 6 to 12
Teen and Adult Ninjas, ages 13 and up
Are there different Ninja levels in class?
There is a single level for Mini Ninjas. There are 7 levels for Kid Ninjas. On the last Saturday of each month, a level-up test opportunity is offered to participants. Testing requirements for each level are described on our level-up sheets that can be found on our member app.
Can my 5-year-old attend Kid Ninja classes instead of Mini Ninjas?
After an assessment of your child’s abilities by one of our Ninja coaches, with special permission he or she may be allowed to participate in classes for ages 6 to 12. Please call ahead to discuss this with one of our team members.
Does my child need experience to start?
Not at all! Most of our students begin with little or no Ninja experience. Our curriculum is designed to meet students where they are and progressively build their confidence and abilities.
My child isn’t very athletic. Is Ninja still a good fit?
Absolutely. You don’t have to be athletic to begin—you become athletic by participating. Our program helps students improve:
- Strength
- Coordination
- Balance
- Agility
- Speed
- Grip strength
- Body awareness
- Confidence
Every student progresses at their own pace.
Is Ninja safe?
Safety is our highest priority! Our classes are taught using progressive skill development, age-appropriate obstacles, professional spotting techniques, and coach supervision. We focus on teaching students how to challenge themselves safely while building confidence. All of our instructors are SafeSport trained.
What kind of Ninja Warrior obstacles do you have?
We have obstacles of all different sizes and styles, and we’re constantly changing them to offer new and fun challenges. Obstacles include:
- Warped wall

Students are continually exposed to new obstacles, new challenges, and creative course combinations that keep classes exciting while developing well-rounded Ninja skills.

- Balance
- Swinging

- Problem-solving
- Mental toughness
Ninja is one of the most complete athletic development programs available.

What’s the difference between Ninja and Parkour?
While Ninja and Parkour share some similarities, they have different goals and styles of training.
Ninja focuses on overcoming a variety of obstacles by developing strength, balance, grip strength, agility, coordination, speed, endurance, and problem-solving skills. Students learn techniques for swinging, climbing, traversing, jumping, and navigating obstacle courses safely and efficiently. Ninja training is highly structured and progressively develops athleticism for students of all ages and abilities.
Parkour focuses primarily on moving efficiently through real-world environments by running, vaulting, climbing, and jumping over obstacles. While it also develops athleticism, Parkour places more emphasis on free movement and urban obstacle navigation.
At THE STUDIO, our focus is Ninja obstacle course training. Our curriculum is designed to help students become stronger, more athletic, more confident, and more resilient while having fun in a safe, structured environment.
Does Ninja help in other sports?
Absolutely. Many athletes participate in Ninja to improve performance in sports such as:
- Baseball
- Soccer
- Basketball
- Football
- Wrestling
- Martial Arts
- Dance
- Cheerleading
- Gymnastics
- Volleyball
The balance, coordination, body control, strength, and athleticism developed through Ninja transfer exceptionally well to almost every sport.
What if my child is afraid of obstacles?
That’s perfectly normal. One of the greatest benefits of Ninja is learning to overcome fears in a safe, encouraging environment.
Our coaches never force a child to attempt an obstacle before they’re ready. Instead, we build confidence through small successes until students surprise themselves with what they’re capable of accomplishing.
Private lessons are available if they need to go at their own pace.
Can my child compete?
Yes! Students who are interested in competition have opportunities to participate in Ninja competitions, but competition is always optional. Many of our students simply enjoy the classes for fitness, fun, and personal growth.
How long are the Ninja classes?
All classes are 45 mins long.
Do you offer adaptive classes?
Yes, we provide adaptive ninja obstacle course training. Book a meet and greet appointment to get started.
When are Ninja classes held?
Our schedule varies seasonally. Please request a schedule for our current class schedule.
Can I just show up for class?
All first-time visitors must make a reservation. Please click the Get Started button to get more information on our ninja program.
Is your class structured or open gym?
We offer structured classes for kids, supervised by our Ninja coaches.
What should students bring to class and what should they wear?
Ninja students should bring a towel and water bottle and wear their Ninja shirt along with comfortable workout clothes that are not baggy or loose, to prevent clothing getting caught in obstacles. Shoes are not required. If you wish to wear shoes, please help us protect the mats by only wearing indoor shoes that are NOT worn outside.
Can I bring my child's friend to class with us?
Not for our Ninja Classes since they are rostered classes. However, ninja memberships are month-to-month, so if your child's friend wants to join for a short period, tell them to check out our pages for kids ninja classes classes and mini ninja classes so they can join the fun, too!
Who can try the salmon ladder?
Kids are not allowed on the salmon ladder. Adults must be able to do at least 10 pull-ups before qualifying to attempt the salmon ladder, unless the Ninja coach makes an exception.
Do you offer Ninja shirts?
We do! Ninjas of all ages can purchase our black Ninja shirts. Colored shirts are also available for Kid Ninjas (ages 6 to 12), but these can only be purchased after participating in class and passing the level-up test associated with each shirt color.
