Our cardio kickboxing class is called ACKCAmitis’ Cardio Kicka** Class. And that is exactly what it is… a kick-ass, fun, challenging, and results-oriented workout.

This program was designed by Master Amitis Pourarian, who has used 20 years of martial arts and fitness experience to create a high-energy kickboxing class that any person, any age, any shape can attend for an incredible workout. This total body workout class is for everyone!

Each of our cardio kickboxing classes is different, so you never get bored, and you can burn up to 800 calories per class! This is one of our most popular classes because it’s so much fun. But you’ll work every part of your body as you gain strength, increase your flexibility, and build cardio endurance. You don’t need to enjoy boxing to love this class. No experience is necessary! I have been with THE STUDIO for around 9 months now. This is hard to believe! It only seems like yesterday that I started. When I first started ACKC back in May 2010 I did not know what to expect. I came into the studio not knowing anything about cardio kickboxing classes. It only took one class to get me hooked. ACKC seemed to fit. It was high passé, the instructor was great and I got to hit bags. Good therapy. At the time I started at THE STUDIO I was working with adults with intellectual disabilities. It was not the work that was getting to me but the day to day routine of the same thing. I was not being challenged and I saw my self-slipping into nothing. An endless job with no means to an end lets just say I was not happy. ACKC let me get all my frustrations out. Whatever happened at work or the way I was feeling about something, it didn’t matter, for that hour it was all about me.

I started out at THE STUDIO just under a year ago because an instructor I liked had moved there. At first I only went to her two classes. As I sat waiting for my classes to began, I would watch cardio kickboxing (ACKC) winding down. At first I just liked the music. The instructors were motivating and made it fun. After a couple of months, I started to talk to some of the women attending ACKC — women who were like me, over 40 and not a size 2. Every one of them told me to try it. These women and the instructors all told me to go at my own pace, “listen to your body.” I finally got up the nerve and tried it. No one made fun of me. Everyone was encouraging. I was thrilled I made it through the class without passing out! Now I do ACKC two or three times a week along with other classes offered at THE STUDIO. The staff listens to its members. Changes in the schedule and/or courses offered are made after members’ input is rendered. I always feel welcome at THE STUDIO. I have made friends, increased my self-esteem, and lost inches. Like an old Chex commercial, “Try it. You’ll like it.”
