At THE STUDIO Martial Arts & Fitness, our Adaptive Martial Arts Program is designed to create a safe, structured, and empowering environment for students of all abilities. We proudly serve families seeking individualized, inclusive instruction — including those supported through Alta Regional Center supportive programs and adaptive programs for Alta families.
Our program falls under the Social Recreational Program through Alta California Regional Center, allowing eligible families to access structured martial arts training in a supportive and community-based setting.
Expert, Highly Trained Instruction
Our instructional team participates in the Instructor Development Program through the Moo Do Taekwondo Association, ensuring ongoing education, mentorship, and the highest standards of teaching.
Our staff includes:
- CPR-certified instructors
- Trauma-informed certified team members
- Years of martial arts training and in-depth instructional experience
- Leadership under Master Amitis Pourarian, 8th-degree black belt Master Instructor
Every adaptive class is delivered with structured supervision, professional standards, and a deep commitment to student safety, dignity, progress and customization to meet the needs of each individual student.
Who We Serve
We work with students across a wide spectrum of needs, including:
- Physical disabilities and mobility challenges
- Developmental differences
- Autism spectrum challenges
- Sensory processing challenges
- Emotional regulation needs
- Social and/or communication development
- Anxiety-related challenges
- Behavioral support needs
Our team is equipped to meet students at their current level — whether they require one-on-one guidance, small group support, or gradual integration into broader classes.

Our Approach
We specialize in creating adaptive and inclusive programs tailored to each student’s unique strengths and needs. Our structured environment is intentionally designed to promote growth in multiple areas:
- Improving physical coordination, strength, balance, and motor skills
- Developing confidence and independence
- Strengthening focus and mental resilience
- Supporting emotional regulation
- Building practical life skills
- Enhancing social and communication abilities
A key component of our approach is intentional social development. Through structured partner drills, group activities, leadership modeling, and positive peer interaction, we improve socialization within a safe and supportive environment. Students learn turn-taking, listening skills, respectful communication, and teamwork — all within the framework of martial arts training.
Because our adaptive program operates within a larger martial arts community, students also benefit from a strong community and belonging component. They are part of a community, not separated from it.
We also provide opportunities for our adaptive martial arts students to participate in tournaments, including modified and adaptive divisions, allowing them to experience the excitement, achievement, and confidence that comes from competition in a supportive setting. Tournament participation is optional and structured to ensure success, safety, and positive experiences for every participant.
A Supportive Environment for Growth
We believe martial arts is more than physical training — it is a pathway to empowerment. Our adaptive programs are intentionally designed to improve quality of life physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially.
Through the Alta Social Recreational Program, families gain access not only to specialized instruction, but also to a welcoming, inclusive community where students are supported, encouraged, and celebrated for their growth — both on and off the mat.
