BAM (Bad A** Moms) Taekwondo

THE STUDIO offers private lessons for those looking to practice and fine-tune their martial arts skills and techniques or for those interested in training a bit differently than in traditional group taekwondo classes. The personal attention you’ll receive from our experienced instructors provides the perfect opportunity to effectively learn new material, foster ongoing development of technique and form, or study a specialized area of martial arts. Or perhaps your goal is to earn a national championship title. Private women’s taekwondo lessons with our highly-trained, accomplished instructors can help you reach the highest level of competition. Our instructors can also design a modified training program to accommodate an injury so you can keep progressing while you’re healing. Depending on your goals, we can also incorporate wellness or nutrition coaching as part of your personalized program. For more information about our private lessons, please call (916) 258-5425.

BAM (Bad A** Moms) is our powerhouse-packed women’s self defense and martial arts program, designed for women in the Roseville area who want to learn self defense, get fit, and earn a Black Belt in Taekwondo. You don’t need to be a mom to participate — just a woman on a mission of self improvement and empowerment.

Our program delivers on its name. You’ll improve your physical fitness and flexibility, increase self confidence, and strengthen your mind and body, all while learning an amazing art form that teaches you self defense and self reliance. How many women can say they have a Black Belt? During your BAM journey, you’ll have the opportunity to earn one. Our women’s taekwondo classes are open to women of all ages and fitness levels, and you don’t need previous experience to participate.

Mentally you can expect to develop self-motivation, respect, confidence, and control along with a positive outlook on the challenges life throws at you. The goal is to create a stronger version of you, both physically and mentally.

When you make the decision to embark on this martial arts journey, all you need to is walk through our door of our Roseville studio! You’ll be greeted by a friendly staff member who will assist you in taking your first steps towards a more empowered you. We’ll loan you a uniform so you can try your first class, and introduce you to your instructor and classmates. There is no pressure or hard sell — we want you in our women’s taekwondo classes because you want to be there.

Under the guidance of 8th Degree Black Belt Master Amitis Pourarian, you’ll learn traditional Taekwondo poomsae, which incorporates defined patterns of defense-and-attack motions, stances, blocks, kicks, punches, and strikes, as well as practical self defense and the sport of Taekwondo.

The self defense component of BAM includes stand-up, ground, in-close, and weapon defense (knife, gun and stick). Frequent guest instructors provide you with specialized training in these skills and others such as grappling, joint locks, and striking. The self defense training includes board breaking, the demonstration of power to cause an effect (equivalent to breaking bones).

The sport aspect of our women’s taekwondo classes prepares you for fun, healthy competition with others of the same age and rank. Our safe environment is ideal for adults of any age who enjoy competing in any or all arenas including poomsae (forms), sparring, board breaking, weapons, or self defense.

When you make the decision to invest in yourself and carve out time just for you, please call us and we’ll schedule you in a women’s taekwondo class that best meets your goals.

We pride ourselves on being a supportive environment focused on the common goal of self improvement. Our classes and students are friendly and welcoming, ensuring that new students will have an enjoyable, non-intimidating experience.

The BAM program was created by Master Amitis Pourarian, former US Team Member, who owns THE STUDIO Martial Arts & Fitness. Master Pourarian developed BAM to help inspire women to step up and into their own power and to express it in a way that will positively impact their world.

THE STUDIO is a member of the Moo Do Taekwondo Association (MDTKD). An approved Kukkiwon school, we teach Kukkiwon poomsae (forms). Visit our “What is Taekwondo?” page to learn more.

I just wanted to let you know how thankful I am that you have allowed me to continue training with you. Especially your focus on self defense. You teach in class that we should learn this skill should we ever be in a situation where it becomes necessary to use. That day was today for me.

I ran into a situation today that thankfully did not come to any physical altercation, but knowing the foundations of self defense, I felt like I handled myself better than I would have in the past and felt more prepared to address the situation if it had escalated, and that’s due to your training. If I did not have that training I would not have been as calm and collected to address the situation as I did today. I was able to feel that I could protect those around me until help arrived.

I know you probably get told this a lot, but it’s true – what you are doing is very important and helpful to all. As one oath mentions, I will be fierce and fearless yet humble. Learning TKD does give you confidence and courage to stand strong and ability to hold your own should it ever need be.

I’m thankful I started this journey and look forward to continuously growing with the Studio.

These gals are beautiful, strong, independent, wise, kind, and funny women. Words cannot experience the gratitude I feel towards this group of women. They have changed my life and continue to. When I started BAM, I also started my graduate degree. This group of women not only helped me grow but pushed me to succeed. Master P has a saying “if they can do it, then I can do it!” That is right, and is often what goes through my head — that I have no excuse! If I want to succeed I need to put the time in. Each journey through Taekwondo is unique. While the journey is still your own, at THE STUDIO and in BAM you get to share this journey. The ups and downs, the triumphs and disappointments, that journeys often bring. THE STUDIO preps are always there to pick you up and push you forward. BAM has given me advice, listened, makes me laugh every day, has provided a shoulder to cry on, given me a since of purpose, and so much more. BAM is truly BAD A**!”

BAM has made an impact on my life in many ways. It is an awesome group of women that have become a weekly part of my life and I look forward to it. Master P is teaching us beyond the physical aspects of this art. She applies the mental teachings of taekwondo in our daily lives and helps us to become confident and stronger individuals. I would recommend BAM women’s taekwondo classes to any woman who wants to strengthen herself inside and out! I did not expect BAM to be as rewarding as it is, but it is a great feeling all of us working hard towards the same goal! I look forward to training and earning my black belt someday in the future… it may take awhile but I know I can accomplish this!”
